DOLE names Caloocan as 'Best Performing LGU'
The Caloocan City government was named “Best Local Government Unit in Implementing Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP)” for the 5th time during the 2021 Kabuhayan Awards on Nov. 3, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.
The awarding ceremony was held at the DOLE-National Capital Region Office in Manila.
Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan said the award proves the city government’s efficiency in providing good jobs and opportunities to the citizens.
“Sa pamamagitan ng ating mga programang pangkabuhayan, nawa’y mas marami pa tayong matulungang pamilya upang makaahon sa krisis dulot ng pandemya (Through our livelihood programs, may we help more families to survive the crisis caused by the pandemic),” he added.
The DOLE gives the award to local government units that demonstrated efficient implementation of livelihood programs following the guidelines of the department’s Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP).
Ms. Violeta Gonzales, head of the city’s Public Employment Services Office (PESO), received the award during the ceremony.
This is the local government’s 5th DILP award from the DOLE for implementing effective livelihood projects in the city.
The DILP or “Kabuhayan program” aims to open opportunities and grant assistance for capacity-building on livelihood for the poor and marginalized workers.
