Caloocan places residential block on lockdown
Selected areas in Caloocan City's Barangay 35 were placed under lockdown due to a surge in Covid-19 cases, Mayor Oscar Malapitan said in a report by Philippine News Agency.
Malapitan said the city temporarily closed Block 6, Sawata, Area 2, Maypajo (bounded on the west by LRTB Compound and east by Dagat-Dagatan Avenue) beginning Wednesday noon until 11:59 p.m. on April 27.
The city government targets to contain the increasing cases of Covid-19 in the area, he added.
Malapitan said only a limited number of individuals are allowed to enter and exit these areas.
"We will conduct disinfecting operations, extensive contact tracing, and mass swab testing to immediately isolate suspected Covid-19 cases from the public," he added.
As of Tuesday, the city has 1,663 active cases out of a total of 23,702 cases, with 21,364 recoveries and 675 deaths.
For Covid-19 related concerns, residents are urged to contact Caloocan City's 24/7 Covid-19 hotline at 0947-8834340 or 0953-1265127.
