Caloocan holds motorfest
The Caloocan City government and Cultural Affairs and Tourism Office (CATO) held the 5th Arangkada Motorsiklo Motorfest to kickstart the week-long celebration of the city’s Tourism Festival, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.
The motorcycle festival took place at 10th Avenue in Caloocan City on Saturday, Oct. 1.
Arangkada Motorsiklo Motorfest is a festival organized annually by the local government to present Caloocan as a home of motorcycles.
It displays motorcycles in various builds and models, including motor parts and accessories.
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan said that the motorcycle festival is part of the city government’s campaign to establish Caloocan as the “Motorcycle Capital” in the National Capital Region (NCR).
“Nais natin makilala pa tayo bilang Motorcycle Capital. Sa pagdiriwang ito, makikita ng mga negosyante at motorcycle enthusiasts ang ating dedikasyon na maging bahagi ang pagmomotorsiklo ng pagiging Batang Kankaloo (We want to be known as the Motorcycle Capital. In this celebration, businessmen and motorcycle enthusiasts will see our dedication to make motorcycling a part of being a Batang Kankaloo),” he said.
In line with the program, a motorcycle parade was conducted at 10th Avenue Exit to B. Serrano Street to exhibit different motorcycle builds and models.
The city government prepared several event booths where various motorcycle products were displayed.
Some booths also offered free motorcycle checkups, affordable motorcycle parts and accessories, test drives, and many other activities for motorcycle enthusiasts.
There was also a festival dance competition called “Festiv-Aliwan sa Caloocan” in which competitors performed diversed folk dancing styles to highlight Filipino culture across generations.
